The CLASSworks programme is growing rapidly. This is a beautiful indication of the value the programme brings to primary and secondary schools. However, it also brings challenges.
One such challenge is that DEAN’s operating area in Kenya is becoming too large to serve from one location. Our trainers have travelled extensively over the past year and had to stay in hotels regularly during school training sessions.
To increase the scalability of CLASSworks, we started developing a freelance trainer network in Kenya. In December 2023, 10 freelance trainers were selected, and we are training them in the CLASSworks programme this month (January 2024). The trainers come from three regions and will train and mentor schools in these regions. DEAN supervises the freelance trainers intensively and monitors quality.
It is a nice new step towards more scalability and, if successful, also duplicable in other regions and countries.
