DEAN Journey to the 2025 CLASSworks Awards

Back

14/10/2025

Empowering Teachers. Inspiring Learners. Transforming Classrooms.

In April 2025, DEAN launched a national journey to transform classrooms through technology and collaboration. Eleven model schools joined the CLASSworks program, each nominating two teachers for intensive digital training focused on classroom innovation and active learning.

Empowering Teachers First

The first training equipped teachers with practical digital skills, from programming and robotics to creative classroom tools,  all aligned with Kenya’s Competency-Based Curriculum. DEAN’s teacher-first approach gave educators the confidence to lead digital change before introducing tools to learners.

Learners Take the Lead

By August, classrooms were buzzing with creativity. Teachers shared how learners used tablets, collaborated on projects, and presented ideas through school clubs.

“My learners are more confident and creative. They now enjoy hands-on learning.”
— Lee Nyaga, Shepherds Junior School

The CLASSworks Awards 2025

On 11 October 2025, the journey culminated at the CLASSworks Awards, a national celebration of innovation in education. The event honored schools that embraced teamwork, creativity, and technology to improve learning outcomes.

Education leaders from KICD, KPSA, and KEMI commended DEAN’s approach, emphasizing that “empowering teachers is the true foundation of innovation.”

Impact at a Glance

  • 11 partner schools across Kenya
  • 22 teachers trained
  • Dozens of learner projects showcased
  • Thousands of learners reached

Looking Ahead

The success of the 2025 Awards marks only the beginning. DEAN will continue to scale CLASSworks to more schools, deepening digital learning and sustainability in Kenya’s classrooms.
