It is with great enthusiasm that we announce that DEAN Kenya and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together to promote digital education in Kenya.
This collaboration marks an important step in our mission to integrate technology and innovation into education to support both teachers and learners. Within this partnership, DEAN and JOOUST will work jointly to develop a curriculum aimed at school leaders and teachers to support them in the transition to digital learning tools. This curriculum will be an important part of our CLASSworks programme, which provides digital tools and training to schools across the country.
In addition, we will work with JOOUST to conduct a longitudinal study in selected schools to measure the impact of introducing digital education technology. This research will provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of these tools and how they can enhance the learning process. Another important aspect of the collaboration is to explore the potential uses of the ElimuPi, an innovative digital learning tool that provides offline access to learning content, within JOOUST’s activities. Together, we will explore how the ElimuPi can be used to strengthen digital infrastructure and increase access to education in remote and underserved areas.
In addition, DEAN and JOOUST will jointly develop a CLASSworks module for Teacher Training Colleges. This module will train prospective teachers in the use of digital learning tools and technology in the classroom. An essential part of this module is that students will gain practical experience by doing internships in CLASSworks schools, so that they can immediately apply their acquired knowledge in practice.
We are delighted to partner with JOOUST on this initiative and believe this collaboration will contribute significantly to the future of education in Kenya.
